I have always hoped, the day was coming when the regional workouts would look exactly as HQ has programmed this year. This year requires a high skill level and fundamental strength that will punish the athletes who have not spent the time perfecting their skill work.
So many athletes have mastered the art of kipping in a way that has deteriorated their strength in the true movement. I am definitely not against kipping, but at the same time, being able to perform a movement, in a strict capacity, such as a strict handstand push-up, is a great test to find the Fittest in the World. For those athletes who spent a significant amount of time doing gymnastics, they are going to fare a bit better than the rest. Why? Because gymnasts have developed an incredible amount of body awareness and control in static positions, that creates absolute strength.
