Day 3 of USAW Nationals is here. Woke up at fighting weight so nothing crazy to do for me. Over the past three days our Power and Grace lifters have done extremely well and outperformed PR lifts, their expectations, and mine. I will be giving a full recap of their performances on Monday and full summary of the weekend.
For those of you who asked what I put before me on meet day I wanted to give yall the 5 things that spent time with this morning.
1. The Gospel. Plain and simple my ability to be here, my hope for great things, my identity and self-worth, and the peace to perform all rest firmly in the person and work of Jesus Christ and the mercy and grace afforded to me through Him.
2. This verse has, in recent years, been a mantra for me in competition:
“Be strong, and let us use our strength for our people and for the cities of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.”
1 Chron 19:13
3. My former weightlifting coach and good friend Stan Luttrell sent this one to me this morning as a solid reminder of why I compete today:
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
1 Cor 10:31
4. My wife Megan and little girl Emma Katherine. I know I will make them regardless but I love to see Megan’s face when I do well.
5. This. Call me a bit quirky but this gets me fired up!
Go Time.
