I apologize for the delay of Movement Monday… On a Tuesday. While the new website is amazing we are still ironing out a few kinks here and there.
Anyways, back to exercise based gymnastics! As I’ve been working with a few athletes and as we clean up the foundations of the hollow/arch kip I came to notice a very easy “tell” when the kip was being performed well. The rings themselves had an equally consistent movement when viewed from the profile as the athlete’s body applied force to them. That is the focus of this weeks video.
Next time you are on the rings, take a nice side profile video and see if you notice the same consistencies or lack of pressure and it may serve as a clue to deeper issues of connectivity and kip efficiency.
Cheers!
Joe
