1 Peter 1:7 – “so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
nFire does more than just burn. Fire refines. The most valuable gold has first been refined and purified by intense heat in fire. A forest grows back stronger when it is been burned down. A diamond produces its true color after it has been blasted by sand and water. Often these elements that we see as negative and often fear are the very elements that create value.
Training is often like those elements. It refines. It’s painful. It’s often undesired. However, it makes you a better athlete. This fire often shows up on the days you don’t want to train. It’s those days however where you have the greatest opportunity for growth as an athlete.
Don’t be afraid of fire. Don’t fear hurt. Don’t skip out on intense sometimes painful training. It is this type of training that creates athletes. It’s the hard days that make greatness.
This thought occurred to me after reading a blog from Michael Winchester today. Check this quote out and if you’re feeling inclined read blog.
“There’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow people, but you’ll have to pass through Hell to get it. There is no other way. Without experiencing it, you can neither learn nor grow from it.”
