As Megan I get ready to make the move back to Georgia, one of the more difficult parts about moving is losing an incredible training environment. When I moved to Texas four years ago my lifting career wasn’t half of what it is now. The lifting environment and training environment that I walked into at CrossFit Deep and Spoon Barbell were fundamental in my development as a lifter. Having training partners like Jason Riggins, Eric Rosenstock, Freedom Ha, James Aftomis, and occasionally Dutch Lowy were critical to my development as a lifter. Furthermore, coaches like Tom Witherspoon and Richard Flemming were also massively impactful on my understanding of the lifts and practice of them properly. I was reminded of this fact this week when I read an article out of Catalyst Athletics from Travis Cooper. His understanding for the necessity of a positive training environment is well stated in the article below. Take the time to read it and hopefully each of you will make finding a good training environment a priority. It is, in my opinion, one of the top three most fundamental things for your development as a weightlifter. As Megan I prepare to move to Georgia it will be one of the top priorities in my preparation for Nationals to re-establish that environment.
