With one more week to go, looking back on 14.4 there are some definite things we can learn moving forward.
1- If you want to be the best. Just don’t stop moving. Ever. Seriously. Ever. See Below:

2- Wall Balls are not that hard. Rich did them unbroken. I know he is the top tier but the idea that we couldn’t do 2 sets of 20 is making a very simple, easy movement into a bigger monster than it is. Especially only 40 of them.
3- Toes To Bar can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Those of you who know how to perform this movement well and know when to come off the pullup bar at the right time likely crushed 14.4. If you’re anything like me you fell off a cliff and took this movement with the wrong perspective. Toes to bar can be such an advantage for a competitor if you don’t allow them to over-tax you. If you do allow them to over-tax you they can become your worst enemy.
4- I don’t know how Rich did triples on the MU for that long but if you watch you can see the second it got tough to complete the dip on the MU, he got off the rings. There was never a moment where he had to fight for a lockout. He always stopped one rep short of that. That’s a huge lesson in pacing for all of us.
5- Learn to row. Seriously. The best in the game were off the rower between 2:00-2:30 for men and 2:30-3:00 for women. And it didn’t over tax them. Row. Row often. Trust the rower will always show up. It’s such a good indicator of aerobic capacity you can trust that it will show up.
That’s it. One more week to go. Like everyone else I’m looking forward to clean-thrusters and burpees.
