“10 But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.”11 Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.”
Exodus 4:10-12
I have written time and time again that we give our mind and body far less credit for what it is capable of. In the sport of weightlifting it is far more common to hear the word “can’t” than the word “can.” So many coaches have stated that there is no way a 5’10” guy could ever achieve success in the sport of weightlifting at 69kg. I have heard from my first National competition even since stepping off the podium this past year that I am unfit for my weight class. Not to stay that these coaches weren’t grounded in fact and reality but I tend to give greater credit to the capability of the body and the mind. It’s my belief that we can’t imagine all that our body is capable of in our wildest dreams. Mainly because we didn’t create it and thus have no concept of its potential. Namely the ability of the creation is held within the hands of the Creator and since that is the case our ability is infinite.
I was reminded of this fact this morning reading Exodus 4 where Moses doubts his capability as a leader and as a spokesman for the Lord. I love God’s response to Moses’ doubt and fear. God created Moses. He created his mouth, ears, eyes, and all that he is. Thus Moses knows no bounds and has no limits as his limits are only put on him by a limitless God. God rebukes Moses for limiting himself because in doing so He is stating a fallacy that God has limits. God knows no limits.
Be encouraged. You were made without limits. Don’t put them on yourself or allow others to put them on you.
