Yesterday I posted a video with one of my training partners in it specifically critiquing the third pull of his clean. Ironically, yesterday he was completing the same exercise that was posted in the video. This time the result is a little different.
Two things are different in today’s look at his third pull. Firstly, the difference in the weight is significant. That difference in the weight allows James an advantage when pulling under the bar. The weight on the bar gives him greater leverage when pulling under. Basically this greater weight allows him to apply more force when moving downward and also allowing him to stay more connected with the bar. Secondly, the heavier weight doesn’t move as high so it is easier for James to catch the bar lower rather than letting it float.
I had to give James a little redemption. Here it is.
