For to us a child is born, nto us a son is given;nand the government shall be upon his shoulder, nand his name shall be callednWonderful Counselor, Mighty God,nEverlasting Father, Prince of Peace.nOf the increase of his government and of peacenthere will be no end,non the throne of David and over his kingdom, nto establish it and to uphold itnwith justice and with righteousnessnfrom this time forth and forevermore.nThe zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6-7, ESV)
Merry Christmas guys. Last year I waited in anticipation for a barbell that I did not receive. This year I find myself in a very different spot. I don’t want to ruin my New Years Eve post but wow this year has been one of incredible blessings.
I want to take second and let each of you that reads this that I am encouraged each day by your comments and the time you take to read my babbling. It’s been a wild year and knowing that folks like yall actually read this blog is one of the greatest compliments I could ever receive. Thank yall for hanging with me for more than a year and for supporting me along the way.
Secondly, don’t forget today we can look at our blessings and remember where they came from. We get to exercise every day and some of us get to do it really really well. That’s a gift given to us. We get to enjoy time with our family or friends today. That’s a gift given to us. We get to eat good food and relax for at least one day. That’s a gift given to us. Ultimately all those things flow from the greatest gift we have ever received. Christ. We celebrate His coming today. The angels celebrated, the shepherds celebrated, the magi celebrated, we now get to celebrate. The great gifts we are enjoying today (or maybe not enjoying) are minute in comparison to Christ. In fact, I would take Him even for a second over thousands of Christmas days. The author of gifts and life. He deserves far more than a day of worship. He deserves our lifetime of praise (and then some). Enjoy the gifts today. Remember they are a shadow of Christ and a reminder of who He is.
O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheernOur spirits by Thine advent herenDisperse the gloomy clouds of nightnAnd death’s dark shadows put to flight.nRejoice! Rejoice! EmmanuelnShall come to thee, O Israel.
