For those of you following the Competition OR Weightlifting Blog here’s a quick glimpse at next week:
Competition:
We are using the ECC Championship Qualifier both as a testing agent for your fitness and an opportunity for you to compete against some of the best in the world. Monday’s workout is the ECC Qualifier Workout from week 1. If you have not done it already you will tomorrow. That being said, if you are not planning to submit your score then there are some specific directions and changes I want you to make to the workout and the timing. If you are planning to submit your score it needs to be submitted by 5PM EST and I would recommend you do that piece first before any other part. The workouts come out on Fridays so this week you will have the option of doing it EITHER Saturday OR next Monday depending on how you feel. Enjoy.
Weightlifting:
This is a deload week. You need it. Remember there is a big difference in a deload and taper. When you taper, you drop the volume and intensity to the same spot regardless of the programming in an attempt to prep your body for a competition max effort. A deload week simply drops the intensity and volume about 10%-15% from what you were completing the week before. Therefore, your “deload” week will be different every time we complete one based on the loading and intensity from the previous week. Enjoy the lighter week. Try to spend less time in the gym if you can.
