It’s official! USAW released today that the American Open in 2013 will be held right here in Dallas. December 6-8 of next year, I will finally get to attend a national event without having to travel to it. Sleep in my own bed. Train in my own gym. Eat from my own kitchen. Cut weight in my own bathtub. This is going to be awesome!
Thanks to Spoon Barbell and in particular Bobby Sirkis, the meet is being held at a sweet location. With 100,000+ s/f of athletic facilities and from what I hear the perfect set up for a stage and warmup area, the Jewish Community Center is set to be one of the sickest venues in AO history.
I’m pumped Spoon is hosting it with the city of Dallas as this guarantees a well-run event. The many many (many many) years of experience in Spoon Barbell combined with the support of the city of Dallas should further make this event one worth watching. Mark your calendars and book your flights. This one is gonna be good. Eric Rosenstock personally guarantees it.
The only person not looking forward to it I think is my wife who regularly looks forward to vacation every year for the American Open. I think it’s probably cool for her to take the days off… to load weights 🙂
