With 14.5 in our rearview mirror I know many of you are excited to move on to the next phase. From the looks of it, because of video submissions, CrossFit headquarters will not announce the regional competitors until at least a week from now. For those of you who are on the bubble this is probably a very stressful time for you and I would imagine you are likely wondering what you should be doing over the next week or so.
First, if you or your team made Regionals and would like to take part in the Regional competitor programming please email me as soon as you can so I can get you set up to get started on that programming. It will be an easy process involving a simple payment link and a WordPress account set up for each of you individually.
For those of you on the bubble, this likely means that you had to work your tail off and repeat workouts every week to allow yourself the best opportunity to be in the best position possible. What that means is that for the last five weeks you’ve probably overtaxed, under recovered, and put your body in an overall state of fatigue. This type of training was necessary for you to be in the position you’re in. That does however mean that each of you need a week to recover, relax, and prepare for the Regional training ahead, should you make it. If you fit that bill or your team fits that bill, I would strongly suggest following Deep Performance this week. It will be light loading and specifically designed for your recovery. Your body needs it, your mental state needs it, and it will be prep work you can perform to get you ready for Regionals.
For those of you who did not make regionals you can expect the same style programming this week. Recovery, mental rehabilitation, and an overall deload from what was likely a very stressful five weeks. However off-season training begins next week. I will give you a write-up specifically on the goals for the off-season but for now you can trust it will be heavy, highly aerobic, and a little different than anything you’ve experienced in the past. Myself and the Professor herself Liza Ledford (she’s not really a professor but she’s smarter than most of them) are working on some Vo2 max training ideas for the off-season.
I’m super proud of each of you for your work and effort over the past five weeks and cannot be more impressed with each of your results. Regardless of whether you are planning to complete the Regionals package or not, if you did make the Regional please let me know so that I can get a final count on how many Deep Performance athletes qualified for Regionals whether it be as an individual or as a team. Good work guys and I’m looking forward to what’s next.
