“Surely he has borne our griefs
n
and carried our sorrows;
n
yet we esteemed him stricken,
n
smitten by God, and afflicted.
n
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
n
he was crushed for our iniquities;
n
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
n
and with his wounds we are healed.
n
All we like sheep have gone astray;
n
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
n
and the Lord has laid on him
n
the iniquity of us all.”
nToday Christians everywhere bowed their heads in remembrance of Christ’s work on the Cross, His blood spilt for our redemption, and the necessity of His death to ransom us from our own doom. We mourn tonight that sin had such corruptive power that it put us at odds with God. Sin put up such a great divide that it took the blood and flesh of His perfect Son to pay our debt. Without Good Friday we have nothing to celebrate on Sunday and literally have nothing to look forward to but death. I urge you to look at your own sin, your own corruption and remember its offense is not against humanity but the perfectly faithful God. How then could we ever justify ourselves? Christ has done that for us.
Here’s John Piper’s words,”Faith in Christ unites us to Christ so that his death becomes our death and his perfection becomes our perfection. Christ becomes our punishment (which we don’t have to bear) and our perfection (which we cannot perform). Faith is not the ground of our acceptance with God. Christ alone is. Faith unites us to Christ so that his righteousness is counted as ours.“
I pray each of you will consider this reality tonight and this weekend as the Christian church celebrates the freedom from the effects of sin provided to us in Christ.
Outlaw North training camp kicked off hard tonight with some of the better technical lifters we’ve worked with. To their benefit and often their detriment the campers here this weekend are extremely technique driven. They’re tacticians if you will. They are precise in their movement and lift with pinpoint accuracy. However, often they forget that lifting is not all skill. It’s is in large part an aggressive application of power. We saw a lot of lifters tonight miss lifts or PRs with the bar in perfect position. They missed because they were too timid, lethargic, or simply thinking too much. Aggression matters. The lifts, as much as we harp on and preach about technique, are violent. You will miss out on your potential if you don’t remember that simple fact.
Here are some videos from one of the girls platforms tonight.
