Last weekend I spend Saturday and Sunday at Crossfit VTG. This was a unique situation for me as I had previously worked with many of the attendees at a previous camp. Many of the attendees were coaches and members of Crossfit Murfreesboro. This meant that in many ways I got to do a Level 2 style seminar with them. We didn’t spend 2 hours with PVC Pipes or 30 minutes lecturing over the different positions in the snatch. I reviewed all I had taught before, brought those who had not attended before up to speed, then we hit the gas pedal. I can honestly say of all the camps I have coached in my life, this one was the most proficient starting out and because of that a lot of fun to coach. We got to break into groups based on small technical issues and got to work at 70% or higher all weekend long. Yep, their hands hurt real bad by the end of Sunday. I loved working with these guys and I am anxious to get level 3 with them in soon. Here’s a highlight reel of the weekend:
On a sidenote, I issued a challenge to my high school athletes at King’s Ridge today. They had 5 sets to work to a 3RM hang clean. I promised to bring breakfast on Sunday to the highest 3RM DIVIDED BY BODYWEIGHT (.75 bodyweight for the girls). They responded in a big way. It came down to a last set increase of 20lbs by a 10th grade wide receiver at 180#. He smoked it for the W. Here’s some of the cleans from the day. The final 3 are the winning lifts:
