Thailand has lots of awesome things to offer tourists. Green curry. Warm weather in December. Everything is cheap. However the wifi may be the most unreliable thing I have ever tried to use. I have written a blog about my lifting 4 different times only to have it erased trying to post it. For that reason I’m going to keep this one short and write a longer “lessons learned” blog on the flight home tomorrow. However, if you don’t know two of my clean and jerks were turned down for a press out and one of them I missed altogether. The jury overturned my first lift which they called good and they turned down a third lift that I thought was perfect. I have not seen any video yet and I doubt there is one for me to see but I am pretty confident I know what a press out feels like and that was not a press out. However, and I will detail this more in a later post, if you’re perfect the judges give white lights. That’s the basic rule of weightlifting. It really all boils down to the combination of a bad day on the platform and not stepping up to the plate when it was my turn. For now, I’m going to console myself with street food, elephants, and training for the American Open. However, there are a lot of things I learned that I won’t be messing up again on the international stage. More of that to come.
Sorry to disappoint all of you who got up at 3AM to watch me. Trust I had planned on making more than one lift for your effort.
