Interesting two pictures here. Both picture a lifter with the bar at the top of the knee in good position. Notice however the difference in the length of the torso. The longer torso gives more leverage over the bar at the hang position. Ironically, taller lifters have greater mechanical advantage in the snatch because of this.
Granted the shorter lifters have greater advantage in the clean and jerk but it’s nice to know the tall guys have an advantage somewhere. (Though the bar does still have to travel a greater distance)
The bar speed for taller lifters is measurably faster because of this leverage. Do I think taller lifters are at an overall advantage in the sport… no chance. But at least we have one advantage going for us.
