Between a HUGE Galatians project getting turned in today and getting ready to travel to London/Finland today last night was quite the experience. My final year of undergrad I swore I would never pull off a all-nighter ever again. I swore it. I guess never say never.
Therefore, you get a little piece of that all-nighter today.
Check out this passage. Exodus 12:13
“The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.”
Early this morning as I was packing for my trip this verse was super encouraging and extremely empowering. Right smack in the middle of the narrative of the exodus, God drops this Messianic foreshadowing. The immediate context is that God is sending his angel to take the firstborn sons of all the people in the land and those with blood on their door frames will be spared. However, today this verse carries so much weight it strikes deep in my heart.
I have that same blood covering me today. So do all believers. The same blood of a perfect, unblemished lamb sacrificed innocently for the sake of saving God’s people. That lamb is Christ. That same process by which God passes over the Israelites in Exodus has happened to me and to all believers because of the work of Christ on the Cross.
That’s super encouraging to me each day and certainly a verse to be etched on my heart. God didn’t have to resort to plan B to save us. It was his plan from the start and he alludes to it right here in Exodus 12.
On to Europe today. Blog posts for the next week hopefully will be on time… but who knows. Gotta find somewhere to lift in London.
