This week Team Power and Grace team has congregated in Sarasota, Florida for some final Open prep team training. I have always said that at the top of the priority list for training is the environment in which you train. What I mean by that is better than good coaching, better than good programming is putting yourself in a environment on a regular basis that promotes intensity, correct movement, and is enjoyable. This is one of the reasons that I like to get all of my athletes together throughout the year. Most of them train by themselves in empty gyms. What’s more, most of them have been locked up in a cold dark gym for the last three months because of the weather where they live. This makes Sarasota that much more appealing.
Real Fitness Sarasota has been kind enough to let us take over their gym for the week and train as a group. Because we are so close to the Open, workouts haven’t been crazy but we have been able to push it just a little bit throughout the week. What’s more, the beach has afforded us some unique opportunities to get some body weight training and do some aerobic work in a different environment than they are used to. Yesterday the Power and Grace team even played a not so coordinated, not so athletic game of ultimate frisbee on the beach.
