One thing has been made clear all weekend. ALL of these athletes are prepared, consistent, and hungry. There are very few holes in the game for each of these athletes and the depth of those holes are minimal. That leaves the final standings down to two things: heart and trust.
The athletes with the greatest desire for the podium will be the athlete who grits their teeth and fights through those lunges or presses the gas pedal in the 100 foot runs between the rope and cleans. Preparation will only take you as far your desire will allow. It’s no secret that every athlete in the field is prepared. They have demonstrated that all weekend long. The question is who wants it more…
Furthermore, there is a level of trust that comes into play in the end. Trusting your strategy. Trusting your body to perform all that it has prepared for. Trusting that the pain will be worth the reward. Trusting that you were created and given the talent and athleticism you have that you might use it to win. The athletes who can trust these things will be the athletes who give themselves the best chance at the end of the day.
