Hey guys for those of you who don’t frequent the training Portion of the website on a regular basis, I wanted to give you to get an update on some camps we have added as well as some camps that are getting close to registration close. The camps we are going to offer are located everywhere from Springfield, Missouri to Dayton, Ohio to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Smyrna, Tennessee. Recently we’ve added a movement camp in Louisville, KY and Dayton, OH as well as a weightlifting camp in Smyrna, TN. Coming soon is a weightlifting camp in Mobile, AL and a Performance camp in Naples, FL.
We are currently doing three different types of training camps across the country. Our primary camp is the performance camp which highlights the best of both the Weightlifting and gymnastics-style body movement as they are featured in the sport of CrossFit. Myself, Mike Poppa, Emily Carothers, and some nearby Games and Regional level athletes will be coaching and participating in those camps. Each of these camps are 2 1/2 days long and will feature some lectures involving competition prep, specific coaching for the Olympic lifts based on body type, as well as a question-and-answer with high-level athletes.
The movement camps are led by Mike Poppa and Emily Carothers and are a one-day training camp designed to improve your specific, bodyweight gymnastic movements. We are using the word gymnastics because those movements are most obviously seen in the sport of gymnastics though we know a muscle up or bar muscle up are far from high-level gymnastics skills. However, in the sport of CrossFit, the mechanics of each of those movements are critically important. Mike and Emily as well as any nearby athletes spend the day focusing on the foundations for all those movements and move into more specific use to help you reach your goals on the gymnastic side.
Lastly we are putting on Weightlifting only specially camps. These two day camps will focus specifically on the snatch and clean and jerk. We will cover the more advanced concepts surrounding those movements and take a much deeper look at the intricacies of your body as they perform each lift. I will be leading those camps and will always have a guest coach with me. That coach will be determined by the size of the camp as well as its location.
Be sure to check out all those camps at the link below.
